Stryker Sonopet iQ Ultrasonic Aspirator System

Specialty

Neurosurgery

Spine Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Sonopet iQ is an innovative ultrasonic aspirator engineered for precise fragmentation, emulsification, and aspiration of soft and hard tissues, as well as fine bone dissection in Neurosurgery, Spine Surgery, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Leveraging ultrasonic energy and the process of cavitation, it efficiently removes tissue and dissects bone while sparing critical structures. Designed for versatility, control, and ease of use, the Sonopet iQ enhances surgical precision and optimizes patient outcomes.

What is the primary use of the Sonopet iQ Ultrasonic Aspirator System?

Surgical procedures where fragmentation, emulsification, and aspiration of tissue or bone is desirable, predominantly in Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery (e.g., tumour removal/resection, lamidectomies/lamininectomies).

The Sonopet iQ Universal Handpiece vibrates at a frequency of 25 kHz, enabling the tip to strike tissue/bone 25,000 times per second to generate air cavities within the targeted structures. Over time, the air cavities expand and eventually collapse to release pressure that emulsifies and fragments tissue and bone, respectively.

Hydrous tissue (e.g., tumours, fats) is naturally more susceptible to the process of cavitation than anhydrous structures (e.g., vessels, tendons), thereby naturally excluding key structures from emulsification/fragmentation.
